The Leinster Junior Championships 2015 took place from Jan 1st - 4th.

The Championships were hosted as always by the Leinster Schools Chess Association and took place in the Esplanade Hotel, Bray seafront.

Cllr John Bray, Chair of Bray Municipal District made the opening ceremonial move on behalf of Daniel Ferguson (Louth). Cllr Brady addressed the Championships and remarked on the positive commitment of all the players and commended the organisers on the Championships. Furthermore Grandmaster Alex Baburin was in attendance and conducted several open analysis sessions.

History was made in the U12 section as Dayna Ferguson became the first female to win a Leinster Junior Championship since 1996 when she shared the title with Sean Hunter.

In the U14 section Henry Li mounted a successful title defence to win back to back U14 titles.

After a 2 year absence Conor O'Donnell returned to win a record 4th Leinster U16 title and rounded off the weekend by adding his first Leinster U19 title.

Special note of thanks to Bernadette Stokes and Brendan Tecklenborg for their excellent assistance as tournament controllers. The LSCA is also thankful to the Bray-Greystones Chess Club who once again supplied all the tournament equipment.
