The Espion Irish Junior Chess Championships: Offer details

John McMorrow

Espion

The Espion Irish Junior Championships 2016 will be held from the 1-3 April and we will be offering any student who is entering their first Irish Chess Union event a free chess set and board to give to their school. The event will be held in the Fitzpatrick Castle Hotel, Killiney, Co. Dublin and further details can be found in the attached leaflets.

To avail of this offer, we require that each student registers on our website here before March 30th: http://www.icu.ie/shop. Following successful completion of entry, simply email your school and [email protected] to confirm the free equipment. Each student will need to collect their board and set at the event and return it to their school. In this endeavour, we are helped by New Ireland Assurance, who are assisting us with development projects around the country.

We would highlight the three 1-day competitions on Sunday 3rd, the Irish U-8 championships and the u10 and u12 challengers “rapid” events. These three events are for those less used to longer games with games lasting 30 minutes. Players will receive the same amount of games as they are never knocked out of an event. There are also other attractions on Sunday such as talks, coaching and even a competition for parents and teachers.
