Tom O'Gorman crosses 2300 FIDE

JEUYCC2016 Day 3 Tom

After a stunning win against a 2440 IM with black, we can now confirm that 14 year old, Tom O'Gorman's live rating has crossed 2300 and he is thus eligible for the FIDE Master title.

We believe Tom's rating actually crossed 2300 after round 2 but with results in the Armstrong league and 4NCL still to be processed it was a little unclear until now. Tom now sits on 4/6 in this incredibly strong event and will probably have white this afternoon against another tough opponent.

This caps a wonderful month for Irish chess following David Fitzsimons IM norm in the 4NCL Chess and Diana Mirza's win in the World School Chess Championships!

Congratulations all - terrific results!
