Kilkenny Juniors

Padraig Hughes - Irish U10 Champion

68 players from 10 primary schools took part at Kilkenny Monthly Junior tournament. It was a great success for all players but the best school was once again Clogh NS Kilkenny. It was a very strong tournament and the best individual player was Under 10 Irish champion Padraig Hughes from Athy. Unfortunately Kells NS players could not attend the tournament this time but they will have chance next time. Eoin Minnock under 14 Irish champion played game blindfolded against best Clogh NS school player Adam Maguire and John Courtney top rated U18 player in Ireland played bullet 1 min game with Eoin and tournament organiser Darko Polimac. He won both games. The top 20 players were invited for private chess lessons with Darko Polimac, Kilkenny Chess Coach. The next tournament will be held Sunday 26th February in Club House Hotel. Special thanks to new players from Kilcash. Pictures: Padraig Hughes, Eoin Minnock, Kilkenny Juniors.

Apologies for the non transmission of the round 1 games live, too many late entries left no time to set up the boards before play!
