Freestyle Chess Info

DEFAULT TIME FOR EACH ROUND IS 0 MINUTES, NO TOLERANCE. IF YOU ARE NOT AT THE BOARD WHEN THE POSITION IS DISPLAYED YOU WILL FORFEIT YOUR GAME.
The FIDE rules, including the Guidelines II for Chess960, apply.
Positions will be randomly generated at the start of each round here.

Starting the Round

Pairings will be made for the round and some time will be allowed for players to find their places promptly.
Boards will initially be set up in a normal configuration, except pieces on the first and eighth rank will be placed on the third and sixth rank respectfully.
Players MUST be at their board when the position is displayed or they will forfeit their game.
When the position is chosen and displayed on the screen, each player must set up their pieces in accordance with the position displayed. It is both player's responsibility to ensure the correct position is set up.
Players will then be given three minutes to study the starting position, after which the arbiter will announce to start white's clock. It is prohibited at this point to leave your board or to consult any outside assistance, be it a mobile phone or spectator. Once the game has started you are allowed to leave your board like in a regular chess game.
Upon completion of a game, both players should set the board back up in the initial configuration, except with pieces on the third and sixth ranks as mentioned above, before reporting their result to the arbiter.

Castling

Due to the nature of Freestyle chess, the king and rooks may begin in unusual starting positions. The rules for castling remain the same, both your king and rook have not moved, and you are not castling into, out of, or through check. The squares in which the king and rook land remain the same as regular chess when castling both kingside or queenside, regardless of where each piece originated from.

Queenside castling (0-0-0): King on c1/c8, Rook on d1/d8
Kingside castling (0-0): King on g1/g8, Rook on f1/f8

Sometimes, either the king or rook itself will not actually move or will swap places with eachother. As such, it is strongly encouraged that you announce quietly "castles" to your opponent when you are castling as to avoid any confusion.
