Mark Kiernan RIP

We've learnt the sad news of the passing of Mark Kiernan.

Mark played his chess with Celbridge Chess Club for many years in both the Heidenfeld Trophy and Armstrong Cup, playing his last Leinster League game in November 2024. While he lived in Hong Kong, Mark represented Hong Kong at four Olympiads - 1984 (Thessalonika), 1986 (Dubai), 2000 (Istanbul) and 2002 (Bled). People that played Mark will know he was a very strong and competitive player - his peak rating was 2250 - but most of all he was a true gentleman.

Rest In Peace, Mark
