Plans are underway to establish a new ICU-rated Connacht Chess League for the 2026/27 season.

The intention is to create a regular team league for chess clubs across Connacht, with matches initially taking place at a venue in or around Sligo Town.

The exact format will depend on the number of clubs and teams interested in taking part, and discussions are currently at an early stage.

Any Connacht chess club interested in participating in the league is invited to get in touch so that we can gauge interest and begin putting the format and schedule together.
