ICU Web Committee


At the November meeting of the ICU Executive, Jonathan O'Connor was confirmed as ICU Webmaster and the executive created several subcommittees including a web committee (currently made up of Jonathan O’Connor and Junior Officer, Desmond Beatty) and a PR committee (headed by PRO, Carl Jackson).

Initially, the web committee will work with the two ICU websites only (www.icu.ie and ratings.icu.ie). The ICU communications and social media strategy will be dealt with by the PRO committee.

The strategic objectives proposed for the two websites are to:

  1. Promote active site use
  2. Inform and communicate with the Membership
  3. Support ICU operations, including contributors and specific roles, with tools, information, resources
  4. Promote Irish Chess externally but especially membership recruitment and enrollment

The focus of activity for the 2015/16 season is twofold: incremental improvement and development/implementation of strategy. All activity will be considered with a view to their contribution to the strategic objectives above. Key measures for the year will include quantitative metrics such as page hits and qualitative member feedback.

The first release is expected shortly and is expected to include one major functional capability and a number of incremental changes. Details will be made available in the release announcement.
