UCC Chess Club are proud to host the 2016 Irish Chess Intervarsity sponsored by AwardsAndGifts.ie. This competition will be held as a one day individual rapidplay event, and anyone currently studying in an Irish third level institution is eligible to play.

Date: Saturday 2nd April 2016

Venue: Aula Maxima UCC, Cork (This is located on the main campus of UCC at the main

Time Control: 15 minutes + 10 second increment from move 1

Playing Schedule: It will be a 6 round event with registration from 11.30 a.m. We hope to start the first round at 12 p.m. but let us know if that is too early for people travelling from around the country, and we will try to accommodate you. Half point byes are available for the first 2 rounds, and anyone arriving after 11.50 will be awarded a half point bye for the first round. Each subsequent round will start soon after the previous one finishes, with a break between rounds 3 and 4. The approximate schedule looks like this:

Round 1: 12pm

Round 2: 1pm

Round 3: 2pm

Lunch: 3pm

Round 4: 4pm

Round 5: 5pm

Round 6: 6 pm

Prize giving will take place after the last round, and pizza will be provided for lunch. The plan is to go to a pub afterwards for anyone in Cork/planning on staying the night.

1st place: €150

2nd place: €100

3rd place: €75

Best Unrated plater: €50

Best Female Prize: €50*

Entry fee can be paid on the day, but we would appreciate it if you let us know in advance if you are planning on playing. We hope to provide sets and clocks, but would appreciate it if you would bring a clock, just in case.
