The European Club Cup 2022 gets underway in Mayrhofen, Austria, today, with most games at 1pm Irish time. Ennis, Gonzaga and St Benildus are the three Irish entrants this year. Ennis - with Simon Williams GM guesting on the top board - are 55th seeds of 70 and have a match against LSG Leiden's six IMs. Gonzaga face Spanish side Andreu Valencia Origin Chess - not to be confused with Silla València Origin of Chess, who are a different team - while bottom seed St Benildus will be disappointed with only facing two titled players, albeit both 2500+, as they go up against De Sprenger Echternach of Luxembourg.
