FIDE RATED Bangor City Centre Summer Weekday Classic 2026

3 day mid-week event:

Rounds each day at at 10:00 to 13:00 and 13:45 to 16:45

Tuesday 18 August 2026

Wednesday 19 August 2026

Thursday 20 August 2026

Players must be seated 5 minutes before the start time for each round. Players not seated at their board just before the clock starts will be disqualified if they arrive late for 3 games. Arriving late is a distraction to entire playing hall and is classed as any second past 10:00 for morning rounds and any second past 13:45 for afternoon rounds.

Default time is 30 minutes (any player who arrives after 30 minutes has expired on their clock automatically loses the game).

IMPORTANT

If travelling from Republic of Ireland, postcodes in Northern Ireland are different from Eircodes. A postcode covers an entire road. To get to venue, you must copy and paste this entire address into SatNav:

Marquis hall, Castle Park, 5 Abbey Street, Bangor, BT20 4JE

There is a small 'pay and display' car park beside the venue but players are advised to arrive early if needing a parking space as there are only 38 spaces in total. Parking spaces at this spot are very cheap and only cost 2.40 GBP per day (this is the 7-8 hours rate) but it only takes coins so please remember to bring enough coins for all 3 days. Alternatively there is also a 'pay and display' car park opposite Bangor Bus+Train Station (3 minutes walk from venue)

Players needing hotel accommodation. The nearest hotel is the Premier Inn at Castle Park, 5 minute walk from the venue.
