bxc3 Qc7 9. Qb3 Nd7 10. Bf4 dxe5 11. Nxe5 Bd6 12. Bb5 O-O { Up until here
has been opening prep. I was confident she would play this because I had
seen in previous games she always went Qb3. } 13. Bxd7 { I forgot to look
over this move before the game and during the game, I moved instantly Bxd7,
I should have at least considered Bxe5. I was so ahead on time here, I had
1hr 35 (more than what I started with) vs her time which was under an hour.
} 13... Bxd7 14. Nxd7 Qxd7 15. Bxd6 Qxd6 16. Qxb7 { I realised I had lost a
pawn and got a little nervy, even though i had compensation. At this point
I thought I had messed up my theory so I started to bluff and move fast to
intimidate her. Which to my luck worked because I was gaining more and more
time. } 16... Rfb8 17. Qf3 Qa6 { Not letting her castle of course. } 18.
Qe2 Qc6 (18... Qa3 { Qa3 here is significantly better, attacks the pawn on
c3 and supports the rook coming on the second rank. }) 19. Qf3 Qc4 { still
keeping the pressure } 20. h4 { her only move. She has to create some sort
of play and bringing the rook in, is her only way of creating some play. }
20... Re8 { this move is a little innaccurate and unnecessary, I played it
too fast. My ideas are of opening the position with e5, however e5 straight
away works too. } (20... e5 21. dxe5 Re8) 21. Rh3 e5 22. d5 e4 23. Qd1 Rad8
24. Qb3 Qxd5 { recuperating the pawn. Here I felt I had a slightly better
position, my rooks are both in the centre, I have a better pawn structure
and white's king is still in the centre. } 25. Rd1 Qxd1+ $2 { Qxd1+ is a
silly move made by me. I lose any string of advantage I had and I enter a
drawn rook endgame. I thought I had better chances than her in the rook
endgame however I should have thought more. Any queen move would have been
fine. The king is in the centre, therefore swapping the queens is
incorrect. } (25... Qh5 { A better move! }) 26. Qxd1 Rxd1+ 27. Kxd1 f5 28.

Rc3+ 35. Kd2 Rd3+ 36. Ke2 h6 { This position is a draw. All white has to do
is keep checking the king. However both of us are playing for a win. } 37.
a4 g5 38. h5 f4 { in this positon I feel I gain a slight advantage. White
needs to take the pawn back but in this moment she blunders. } 39. g4 $4 {
First major mistake in the game. This move is just losing! } 39... f3+ 40.
Ke1 Kf4 41. Ra6 Kxg4 42. Rxh6 Ra3 $2 { not a great move by me. 42... e3
would have won the game easily. } (42... e3 43. fxe3 Rxe3+ 44. Kd1 (44. Kf1
Kg3) 44... f2 45. Rf6 Rf3) 43. Rh8 Rxa4 44. h6 Ra1+ $2 (44... e3 { Again e3
with the same idea. I had plenty of time I don't know why I didn't even
look at this move. I guess I was too relaxed because board two's result was
in my favour and I knew a draw would still secure me first place. }) 45.
Kd2 Ra2+ 46. Ke1 Kh5 (46... e3) 47. h7 Kg6 48. Rg8+ Kxh7 49. Rxg5 { This
position with accurate play is a draw. At this point white wasn't doing so
great on time, I was still confident I would win the game. } 49... Re2+ 50.
Kf1 Kh6 51. Re5 Kg6 52. Rc5 Kf6 53. Rd5 Ke6 54. Ra5 Rd2 55. Kg1 $2 {
Another major mistake made by white. } 55... Rd5 $6 (55... Rd1+ { Again
missing an easy win. } 56. Kh2 e3 57. Kg3 e2 $19) 56. Ra1 Kf5 57. Kh2 Kf4
58. Ra4 Rg5 59. Kh1 Rg2 $4 { This move cost me half a point. Thankfully I
only needed a draw. However it's funny because during the game I saw that
Rxe4+ is a possibility and that I am unable to capture the rook since it is
stalemate, but for some reason I thought I just move the king out of the
way and I win a rook. I guess I was just exhausted. } 60. Rxe4+ Kf5 61.
Rf4+ Kxf4 { Throughout the game she was offering me draws and I declined
everytime. She got her way in the end! } 1/2-1/2
