Some three months ago the ICU was offered a couple of free places in a junior tournament in Saint Lô, in France. One of our places went to Matthew Gallagher, and in the event he did Ireland proud, finishing outright third. Matthew started out with seven straight wins, was then knocked back a bit but recovered to enter the last round (the 13th) first equal. Unfortunately, thirteen was not lucky for Matthew, and he was overtaken by players from Russia and Slovenia. But third out of 125 is an excellent performance; well done Matthew!
