Up Date: National Club Championships Goes Ahead In Ennis
4-24

Upon further reflection, and after various emails, txts and phone calls from interested parties, concerned about the lateness of postponing the NCC and the negative impact for those who have played by the rules in terms of plans already made, such as Hotel bookings etc etc, the ICU executive have agreed that this event will still go ahead and be hosted by the Ennis Chess Club this weekend.

After lengthy discussion the majority view of the executive had been to postpone the event to a further date, due to the fact that so many of the rules pertaining to the event were being broken. However, after further reflection and consultation with interested parties the Chairman has decided that allowing the event to go ahead was the least worse option, and in the best interests overall.

The rule-set for the National Club Championships will now be reviewed and changed to ensure this issue never arises in the future. For all further NCC events these rules will be rigorously enforced. Both clubs hosting this event, and players participating in this event, in the future will be obliged to comply with and respect the rules and regulations surrounding the event.

The winners of this years National Club Cup will represent Ireland in the up-coming European Club Cup.
