The Irish Chess Union

The teams for the 2014 Olympiad in Norway have been selected:

• Open team: Alex Baburin, Sam Collins, Alex Lopez, Mark Heidenfeld, Colm Daly.
• Women's team: Diana Mirza, Poornima Menon, Gearóidín Uí Laighléis, Karina Kruk, Hannah Lowry O'Reilly.
• Reserves (in order): Stephen Brady and David Fitzsimons (Open) and Ruth Cormican, Sarah Jane Hearne and Elizabeth O'Shaughnessy (Women).

Colm Daly is selected for the Open team as 2013 Irish Champion. A place was made available on the 2012 team for the 2012 champion and not then taken up. The 2014 Champion cannot be selected, as this year the names of team members have to be submitted to the organisers before 1 June.
