A new club for junior chess players will open on Saturday April 24th, 4pm to 6pm and meet weekly on Saturdays thereafter at that time. It will meet in Blanchardstown Community centre, which is next to the church in Blanchardstown village (Dublin).

This is a volunteer led club, and is linking with Tallaght, Jobstown and other clubs with junior sections to teach chess and develop junior events/leagues. But of course the main point is to generally ensure the kids enjoy their chess and have fun. It is a really good thing to get involved in and I need some of you experienced chess players to volunteer to pass on a love of the game to the kids with me.

The LCU have really helped out and given practical support and encouragement in getting this club started, so I would like to thank them publicly. If you want to help me as we start, can you email me at and we can work out how we are going to make a success of this new junior club for the kids. Even a small bit of help in the early weeks would be very important to me and, actually, I think you and I will enjoy interacting with and learning from the kids.
